I cried myself to sleep again
Chewed the skin off my bones
And witnessed my heart turn to ash.
Dance on the fire, you say.
But my feet are restless and tired.
Dance with the fire, you say.
But like a moth, mesmerized by light
I fell into her arms.
My eyes covered in molasses.
My feet immersed in tar.
Oh mother, your blackness is the earth, sea and sky.
Oh lover, your luminance is as dark as the night.

I saw the stars fall to my feet.
There they begged me for mercy.
Those bright little fuckers of the sky.
Looked too impressive for too long.
I picked them up one by one
and threw them into the flames.
Oh mother, your blackness is my light.
Oh lover, you stole my heart.
